Community Clothing Assistance was founded in 2006 to relieve poverty through the operation of a Clothing Bank, after the tragic death of a homeless man who froze to death on the steps of this building due to lack of warm clothing. Dr. Brian J. Scott, the landlord at that time, responded to this tragedy by establishing a charity with the help of Marie Sorenson and David Andrews. Our location is the former site of a Food Bank that provided some clothing to the poor as part of their service, but they were no longer in operation.
Our Mission is to assist in the relief of poverty among families and people in crisis through community-supported clothing assistance programs.
Please note that we only service Thunder Bay and surrounding areas.
Community is a core value that binds and uplifts citizens, fostering mutual assistance in times of need. The charity thrives on community support, receiving clothing contributions that are then distributed to those in greatest need.
Dignity is upheld through the demonstration of respect, embodying the principle of honoring every individual as an equal. This commitment to respect involves understanding and addressing the unique needs of others.
Our programs give beneficiaries the hope needed to succeed in their goals. This commitment to instilling hope reflects CCA's dedication to making a positive impact on the lives of those in need.
