Donations can be dropped off at 404 N May St, at the side doors. Please notify staff that you have donations and they will assist you.
WHAT CAN I DONATE?
We accept the following for donations:
- Small Household Appliances
- Gently Used & New Clothing
- Electronics, Toys, Books, Shoes, and Bedding
- Toys, Books
- Winter Clothing and Footwear
- For all other items, check with staff before donating
DO YOU GIVE RECEIPTS?
Receipts are given to donations at least $10 in value. Please request a receipt at the time of donation and the office will prepare a receipt.

Your donations support various program, including:
- REFERRAL / HOMELESS Program
- UNDERCOVER Program
- AFFORDABLE CLOTHING Program
- DRESS FOR SUCCESS Program
WHAT IS LEGACY GIVING?
Legacy giving allows you to donate a portion of your estate to a charity of your choosing. This allows you to continue making a positive impact on the community, while also lowering the taxable portion for your heirs, letting them keep a larger percentage.
These gifts provide vital and stable support for charities, no matter their size.
WHY SHOULD I DONATE THROUGH LEGACY GIVING?
While each person may have their own justifications to choose legacy giving as their final gift, some examples include to:
- Achieve philanthropic objectives
- Honour a loved one
- Honour a personal history with a charity
- Support the mission and vision of an Organization
HOW DOES LEGACY GIVING BENEFIT THE COMMUNITY?
By choosing to support Community Clothing Assistance, you will be supporting the community through our various programs. These programs are designed to help those in poverty, or in-crisis.
HOW DO I GIVE?
- Bequests: Choose a dollar amount or percentage, and note it in your will. If you don't want to rewrite your will, talk to your lawyer about a codicil - an amendment that costs nothing to add. Community Clothing Assistance appreciates all support given.
- Appreciated Securities/Stocks: If you've owned publicly traded stocks for over a year, you can choose to transfer them to Community Clothing Assistance.
- Life Insurance: You can elect to donate some or all of your life insurance proceeds to Community Clothing Assistance.
- Retirement Plans: You can also name Community Clothing Assistance as a beneficiary to a portion of your RRSP/RRIF. This will lower the taxable portion for your heirs as well.
- Write a cheque for supporting Community Programs.
We recommend speaking with a financial advisor or lawyer to help you decide which option is best for you.

WHAT IS THE CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM?
Every year, Community Clothing Assistance (CCA) runs the UNDERCOVER Program which helps over 1000 children in Thunder Bay who are in crisis. The program provides seven pairs of new socks and underwear to 4-14 YO, each year. In order to continue running the UNDERCOVER Program, Community Clothing Assistance needs support from the community. For a donation of just $50 you sponsor 1 vulnerable child in your community.
A tax receipt for the contributions, is provided to the donor.
WHAT IS THE FAMILY SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM?
The Community Partners Clothing REFERRAL Program helps families and people in crisis in Thunder Bay with free clothing. To do this CCA cooperates with over 150 community partners, whose refer clients our Clothing Centre for assistance. The charity relies on donations for public clothing and operating costs to provide this service. Community Clothing Assistance needs your support to provide access to clothing!
For a donation of just $100 you can provide up to 120 articles / 4 season of clothing for vulnerable person in your community. For a donation of just $400 you can provide up to 480 articles / 4 season of clothing for vulnerable family with 2 kids in your community.

We are looking for people interested in a monthly donation but we accept donations of any size. Sponsoring one child fully costs $50 per year or $4.17 per month. Sponsoring a family costs $400 per year or $30 per month.
You are welcome to contribute as much as you are comfortable with, and every donation is eligible for a tax receipt!
HOW DOES THE CHILD SPONSORSHIP PROGRAM WORK?
Child sponsorship is the most effective way to fight poverty and provides you with an opportunity to join forces with other sponsors' donations to help children in the community out of poverty. As part of your sponsorship:
- You are improving the life of your sponsored child and their family
- You are helping the child to overcome the stigma of poverty
- You are supporting a family in crisis, who can use their income to providing other necessary expenses.
HOW DOES FAMILY SPONSORSHIP WORK?
When you sponsor a family, your donations support the Community Partner Clothing REFERAL Program to give families financial relief.
DO MY CONTRIBUTIONS GO DIRECTLY TO A CHILD?
The proceeds of your donation do not go to one specific child or family; they are used to operate the UNDERCOVER and the REFERRAL Program which help children and families around Thunder Bay.
DO MY CONTRIBUTIONS GO DIRECTLY TO A FAMILY?
The proceeds of your donation do not go directly to a specific family, they are pooled together with the other monthly donations are used to support the whole program which in turn benefits the whole community. Your contributions are added to support the Community Partners' Clothing REFERRAL program which has been running for more than 16 years. Additionally, through helping the whole community we are able to fight poverty in Thunder Bay.

They provide free towing in numerous areas across Canada, or alternatively, you can choose to drop off your vehicle as well. Whether you're donating an RV, boat, motorcycle, or any other vehicle types, Donate A Car Canada ensures that these are either recycled or auctioned based on their condition, age, and location. They handle all aspects of the donation process, making it effortless for your chosen charity to benefit. Following the completion of your vehicle donation, you will receive a tax receipt from CanadaHelps.org within 45 days, ensuring you can claim the benefit on your tax return.
